I was about to list a Lucas starter (M45G G125) on eBay when I
realized that the large spring behind the pinion was broken. Can
anyone point me to a source for that spring?–

Steve, I have a '64 and I had my generator rebuilt at a shop that
does generators and starters. They might have such a spring. Check
your yellow pages for a shop in your area. Good luck!

You might want to check this guy, he’s located in Walthamstow
in the UK, I’ve dealt with him in the past, he’s got a lot of
Lucas parts, and rebuilds starters and alternators, this is
his eBay site, you can email him from there with your needs. http://tiny.cc/zj5bx
