I have a good used set from a 4.2 that needs rebuilt. If you don’t fine any,
contact me off list. Don’t really want to sell it, but don’t need it now
either. Al 67ots 71fhc
When I was looking I had hoped to find some well documented scientific test
results and was unable to. You would think K&N would commission some tests
to put on their web site addressing what appear to be common concerns with
their filters. After reading all this I decided to stick with the factory
setup for 3 - SUs.

John,
Perhaps they did commission tests, but didn’t feel publishing
the results would further their case…–

The following comes from Steve Smith (GT6Steve), who is an AOL
user, so is having posting problems:
In reference to the K&N debate, David Vizard has a chapter on
performance filtration in his book ‘‘How to modify your Mini.’’
Using his flow bench he tested and rated a variety of filters and
graphed the results. His conclusion was that the K&N did not flow
or filter better initially but flowed and filtered better, longer.
Top flow was a brand new paper filter but that efficiency fell
off rapidly. He was particularly scathing when discussing the oily
foam socks we love so much on our bikes.
If you would be so kind as to mention that resource to the list I
would feel like I contributed.
Thanx, Steve Smith in Las Vegas–
