[E-Type] Sugar scoop installation S1 FHC

My sugar scoops may not have been properly installed by a PO
and I’m a bit confused about how they should be
re-installed. My manual makes no reference to them.

They were installed with a collection of random screws
inserted from the back (ie from the wheel well) and screwed
into the captive nuts on the scoop. They were not properly
shimmed, since adding washers to position them would be nigh
impossible.

A search of the archive revealed a picture (thx to Ron
James) of a scoop with bolts screwed through the captive
nuts on the scoop acting as studs to insert into the bonnet.
BTW, I note that the captive nuts at the 1 and 11 oclock
positions are attached to the backside of the flange while
the 6 oclock nut is on the front side of the flange. Does
anyone know which is the original setup?

I hope all this makes some sense and any insight would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks–

Thanks for the clarification. I installed the ‘‘studs’’ in
the top two nuts and it all went together quite easily.–
