[E-Type] SuperBright LED light Bulbs

I second all the good comments on the LED bulbs from Superbright. They
really are much brighter and fit perfectly.
Keep in mind the 4210 xHP6 are for the backup system in Series II cars, not
Series 1 or 1 1/2.
I made the mistake of ordering two and of course they are the wrong bulb
entirely.
Good thing I have a friend with a Series II car.

Hi Len… re LED bulbs… I am working with a supplier of LED’s to
replace the incandescents in my 70 Ser.2. What I have asked them
to supply is an bullet-proof crossover selection that will work
throughout the entire car from bumper to dashboard.

With the increase in technology and price reduction, this is now a
possibilty and the new Led’s are even brighter (19’s and 24’s,
being the norm).

I have tried the early Led’s in the dashboard, but due to the fact
that the guages are backlit, the brightness factor was negligble.
The only success was in the fuel warning, highbeam and generator
warning light… they are shining straight at you with no baffle.

However, I am interested in hearing from anyone who has located a
source of the dash and side marker lights that contain more than
one LED per bulb. best regards to all, Brian

One footnote, the earlier cars with their positive ground systems
need to be mentioned as an LED is in fact a diode (one way only
current). Anyone ordering bulbs should make this known to the
supplier or they won’t work unless you switch the ground for the
hot lead.–

Superbright LEDs has a very good selection, but all the
online light bulb selection guides for older cars like E
Types seem to have some errors. I pulled out each light
bulb to be replaced and checked it against the LED light
bulb size specifications. For the frount turn, tail & brake
lights I found the sockets were set to deep in the
reflectors for the bulbs with side mounter LEDs to work on a
1971 SIII. No vendor would know this only the owner of a E
Type.

Yes they have side maker bulb with multiple LEDs, from 4 to
9 LEDs. Same for the map light and interior light.

I found my dash light bulbs to be Edison Screw Base Bulbs
which I could not find a suitable LED replacement for on
Superbright LEDs. The beams were to narrow and the bulbs to
long. On an earlier LED light post a member said that he
was able to find LED lights for his dash but did not
indicate where he located the bulbs or the part numbers.

dealextreme is bases in Hong Kong. Since I live in the US I
try to us vendors based in the US to avoid customs and other
issues.

I checked my old bookmarks from when I was getting LED
lights for my house and found that http://www.ledlight.com
and http://www.ledtronics.com now carry a large selection
auto LED lights including screw in dash light LED lights.
They do not list the degrees covered so you might have to
get one of several types to find out which works the best.
They are bases in the US.
