The Toyota W58 has the following ratios:
3.28 1.89 1.27 1.00 0.78
You may be able to identify it by turning the input shaft, and counting
turns of the output shaft. The only other Toyota box with similar ratios is
the R154 (which might also be OK):
3.22 1.96 1.31 1.00 0.75
The Celica boxes have a .85 overdrive. The Supra box has an aluminum case,
as opposed to most Celica boxes, which are cast iron. If you find the
tranny in a car, the identification will be on the number plate (but at
that point you’d know it to be a Supra box, never mind) Contact Dellow’s in
Australia, they can help with identification, and may even have some boxes.

supra , but the problem is that style of box also fit celica,

92 boxes, I have looked at 4 boxes so far very confussing.
Hi Mike Frank,
I forwarded your e-mail to my friend Herman van den Akker as he collects data
on Toyota transmissions and I thought this would be of interest to him. He
appreciated the info.
Herman just called me and mentioned the following:
He has a business supplying kits to install Toyota tranmissions into TR and
Morgan cars.
He has searched for Toyota transmissions (to put into TR’s) and has been to
between 20 and 30 yards in the Southern California area. He has never seen a
cast iron Toyota transmission. He says they are all aluminum, except that there
is a center plate approximately 1-1/4 inch thick between the front and rear
half of the transmission. This plate is cast iron on the trucks, and aluminum on
all others.
Herman says the truck transmission is heavy by comparison as the gears appear
to be more robust. He may be contacted at:
handhvan@msn.com
(I have no business interest in this.)
Herman has also designed built and supplies a really cute top cover which
replaces the one on the Toyota tranny and it will move the shift lever either 1
inch forward or one inch to the rear depending on how its installed (as I
recall).
Best Regards, Mike Moore
