[E-Type] Terry's Jaguar Parts

In reply to a message from moff1959 sent Thu 26 Apr 2007:

Thumbs up for Terry’s reputationn. Got the catalog with my
uncle’s car, so he must have been a customer, too. My
satisfaction has been 100% for parts, work, and treatment. I
agree that you should call Bill (if you haven’t already).–

Anyone like to comment on Terry’s in general? I guess I must be the
unlucky guy.

Here’s another stand-up for Terry’s. Over the years I’ve received
my share of wrong or non fitting parts and always found Terry’s,
especially Bill Terry, easily to deal with and never a problem. I
even go to the point of buying big ticket items like my JT5 five
speed transmission and Ron Harris aluminum radiator through Terry’s
because I know Bill will make any problem right.–

Gentlefolk -

On my last major Jag resto project I purchased a lot of stuff from Terry’s.
When I finished the project I had a bunch of odds 'n ends left over that I
did not use for whatever reason. Much of it I had purchased as much as a
year earlier, long past the usual time frame for returning items for refund.
Terry’s gave me a refund on all the stuff I returned, regardless of how long
ago I had purchased it. I know some others of the usuals who would not do
that. So, I will always do business with Terry’s, if he has what I need.

Best.

Bjarn

Wow!!! Now, that is unusual. Talk about above and beyond…
Problem is, the …or “those” good guys can’t often stay in business indefinately.

Yet another positive review of Terry’s.
I work almost exclusively with Terry’s, Bassett’s and Classic Jaguar,
and haven’t had a problem with any. XK’s unlimited was another story,
but we won’t get into that.On 4/29/07, KylesTR kylestr@comcast.net wrote:

Update on my Walker muffler experience with Welsh. The weld on the bar
welded to the top of the two mufflers pulled apart leaving a big gap in the
mufflers. Their first reaction was “it has been two years----” and this
is correct—but not many miles and an obvious manufacturing error.

They did decide to sell me a set of mufflers at their cost—but that was
it. I’m not sure that is such a good deal since it was definitely a fault
in the manufacturing process and they wern’t interested in seeing them to
see how it could be done better.

I have also had a good experience with TERRY’S Jaguar parts
ordering three new wiring harnesses for my 65 JAG FHC. I also had a
good experience with XK’S UNLIMITED when I ordered a universal
joint for one rear drive shaft. Jim ‘‘JT’’ Taliaferro was the sales
rep and the part fit perfectly even though he had to go through
some research to get it right. Their cost was 1/3 of SNG BARRATT.

Hi All,

I received a notice from Terry’s that they are changing
their business to focus on racing and water pump rebuilding.
They are partnering with Engel Imports of Kalamazoo, MI.

Does anyone have the skinny on this?

I have always done a lot of business with them.

Best,

It is all transparent to the customer. You will never know
anything has changed, altho Engel is now handling the orders.
I ordered just like I always did and received my Cometec
gaskets from the Terrys catalog today.

It was just a funny letter, really written backward. The
first paragraph should have said that Terrys is continuing as
it always has, but with the orders now filled by Engels
Imports. The second paragraph should have explained that the
owners are retiring to work on performance parts.

Good to know, as Terry’s seemed to be THE source when it came to
Cometic gaskets.

I agree, that letter couldn’t have made it sound more cryptic.–
