I just wanted to say a public thanks to two folks on our list who helped me
make my car a little bit nicer this season:
To James Frey, who organized the group buy of the MWS wheels. I have now
installed these wheels and used them for about 1000 miles, and they are
terrific in every way. They look great, are of excellent quality materials
and workmanship, and resulted in a noticeable improvement in the handling of
my car (previously I had my 205/65 tires on the original wire wheels - the
wider width of the new wheels makes these same tires perform substantially
better). Organizing the group buy must have been a major hassle, but I for
one am really appreciative of the effort.
To Saul Chaplin (of British Autowood), whose work rebuilding and renovating
my steering wheel represented the kind of quality and craftsmanship that
comes from a true devotee to our marque. Some of you may recall that I had
been on the fence re whether to renovate my existing steering wheel or get a
new, smaller and more robust one. Saul suggested that my existing one could
be successfully rebuilt to have less flex (by using thicker wood for the
rim), while maintaining the original proportions of the large diameter wheel
(which I like). This was definitely the right call - the wood looks of
furniture quality, and the spokes now gleam. It’s amazing how much this
beautiful steering wheel has jazzed up the interior of my car.
So thanks guys!
