[E-Type] The " Jag-uary" Thaw!

In reply to a message from Wiggles sent Sat 16 Jan 2010:

Yeah, it’s up in the 50’s up here in Nebraska too and I have
spring fever. I’ve been busy looking at catalogs for both
Jaguar and sailboat parts. I actually went out and worked
on the boat (in the garage) yesterday for a while. I need
to work on the wipers on the e-type if I plan on taking it
out for longer than an afternoon’s trip and those things
have never worked as long as I have had the car. Never a
priority. The one time I got caught in a rain squall I just
reached up over the windshield and wiped the windscreen with
my hand every now and then. I only put the top up one time,
just to see if it worked, right after I bought the car years
ago. At 6’’ 2’’ my head makes a bulge in the top if I put it
up. I’ve thought of putting in a ‘‘bubble’’ like they used to
put on bombers for the gun turret. Probably not. I prefer
to think that ‘‘gentlemen do not go motoring in the rain!’’ to
paraphrase an old quote about Lucas electronics.–
The original message included these comments:

It’s always a welcome sign of the beginnings of late winter,
when the January thaw hits. At least here, it’s somewhat
typical (climate-wise, not weather-wise…>:-]) for either
the first or for the second half of January to warm up,
sometimes quite dramatically. It’s now 58F here today.

That’s odd. I’m using an Apple Macintosh (MacBook Pro, running 10.6.2), my mailer is Gyazmail, which does support just about every character set known to man. It was set on Unicode for inbound and ASCII for outbound messages.

Is this one OK?

In reply to a message from Wiggles sent Wed 20 Jan 2010:

Occasionally I’ll catch a whiff of something that transports me
back 55 years ago to Grant Heights in Japan. We kids were exploring
off base and I slipped and fell in a ditch - irrigation canal for a
rice paddy. Remember they used the contents of honey buckets for
fertilizer; they might still do so today.
I guess you might say I was in some deep -hi-.–
