[E-Type] The strange configuration of the 2+2 cars and their floors

Well, after a few mixed messages, and some help from a nice soul
named Ginger, I am getting to the bottom of the 2+2. You can’t
imagine my surprise when I looked under my 67 to see these massive,
dropped floor pans, extending from the front footwells back. Like
most folks, I have owned several ots and fhd’s in series one and
two, but never looked that closely at 2+2’s. I had an extra Martin
Robey floor pan for the right side on coupe or roadster, and
matched it up. Totally different. Just when you thought you knew
everything there was to know about e-types…–

Wuh boy!
Mr. Jagster (your real name would be nice!) I worked on these
beasts for nearly 30 years --still do, but for fun, now!-- and
although I was NEVER under any delusion that I ‘knew it all’ about
them, I knew a pretty fair bit. Since playing on this forum, with
the likes of our inimitable Mizz Ginger (the size of whose soul
exceeds that of the universe), Prof. Livingston, Ing, E.E, Mike
(Hey guys! Watch me build a Lightweight!) Frank, Mike ‘‘I never met
a set of points that can’t be used’’ Ecks, and a host of
other…colorful characters, I’ve learned MANY things about E-
types (HAH, Felts!!!) that I never knew before!
As the master says, he who teaches usually has much to learn…
Hang around here, and soon, you’ll be like the world-famous
Steve ‘‘HEY, I know Wee-12s purdy darn good’’ Weinstein, and start
dispensing wisdom youself!
(all names used are real to indict the guilty…and all in good fun,
fellers!)–

Many thanks to all that responded. My real name is Ron Stephenson,
and my Jaguar ‘experience’ dates back to 1959 with my first
XK120dhc. After military obligations, I stepped into a 62 ots,
5000 mile car, traded for a Corvette! Hooked for life, as they
say. My other mistress is a 77 xj6c, and she has been a constant
companion since 1991, and has demanded her share of time and
money. Both cars are pets, works in progress, give little pleasure
other than the (joy?) of ownership. I have many interests, Jaguars
being one of the more costly vices. I simply can’t afford to
drink, gamble or womanize! Once implanted, the Jaguar virus
remains in the blood for a lifetime.–
