[E-Type] Thottle cable V12 S111 E-Type

I cant find anything in the workshop manual regarding the changing
of the throttle cable, is it difficult as I cannot see how you can
pass the cable through the fire wall or is it in two parts, thanks
for any pointers. Alfi.–

Hi Alfi, The parts manual shows the throttle cable as a
single piece. While I have not done a replacement I would
expect that the cable passes through the fiewall by means of
a grommet. Unfortunately, my SIII is in winter storage right
now so I can’t take a peek for you.Regards–

I replaced mine. It is in the body shop now so I can’t look, but
it is one piece and very easy to do as I re-call.

Alfi,

The cable assembly is one piece. I replace the assembly on my LHD 71 V12
2+2 a few months ago due to failure of the kick down switch mechanism for
the auto trans. (The cable separated from the kick down switch actuator and
wouldn’t trip the switch.) It feeds thru the firewall from the engine side
just to the right of the peddle box. It’s held in place by a pair of jam
nut, one on the engine side of the firewall and the other on the inside of
the car. I don’t remember seeing a grommet of any kind, just a hole through
the firewall.

It’s attached inside by a small round “lump” fused to the end of the cable,
which goes into a notch in the end of the throttle mechanism that the foot
pedal is attached to. It’s secured by a very small cotter pin. The “lump”
on the other end slides into a hole in the round plate on the pedestal at
the rear of the engine that actuates the carb butterflies.

It wasn’t hard to change, just a bit “fiddly” getting that little cotter pin
back in place.
