[E-Type] Torsion bars - splines per inch?

Am I correct in thinking that 1 spline adustment will raise ride
height by 2’’ ? Our restored car sits nice’n level but is about 2’’
low at the front. This despite setting initially with the ‘gauge’
per the manual, but then there was no motor in the car at the
time…

Incidentally, 1 spline = 2’’ is about the same adjustment as a
Morris Minor torsion bar !

If memory serves, there is one more spline on one end of the
torsion bar from the other. That will give you a vernier effect
for precise adjustment.–

You’re correct that one spline = ~2’’ ride height. However
there are 25 splines on one end and 24 on the other to give
you a vernier adjustment capability. It depends on how the
splines on either end line up but the minimum adjustment, as
I recall, is less than 1/8’'.

Thanks for the help, guys ! As it’s level to start with, I hope
that just raising by 1 spline each side (at the suspension end)
will do the job, otherwise it’s a rather laborious process of ‘hit
or miss’–
