[E-Type] triangular air box foam gasket

i just purchased this gasket and would like to ask the
proper way to attach it. weatherstip adhesive?
this is the thin gasket that adheres to the inside of the
trumpets to seal against the airbox.

I sticks on the air box doesn’t it? My triangular air box
has a rubber seal glued to it. Or does it glue to the
trumpet?

Mine came in a length from Barratt’s - enough for two
seals. Just peel the strip off the sticky side and work
around the trumpets’ perimeter. Paul–

Drew,

I have done it both ways, and sticking it to the trumpet fl
flange seems to work the best as the rim holds it in place be
better and you don’t tend to mess it up when you take the pl
plenum off and lay it down somewhere.

Early on I got tired of always fussing with this seal. The foam seal is too flimsy with too little stickum (scientific term). Finally, I put silicone sealant along the lip of the air box and carefully fixed it so it dried with a flat face to the thickish seal. I trimmed any side excess off neatly after it had cured and haven’t had a problem in 15 or more years.

I forget exactly how I placed the box to get a relatively thick, flat seal, but I think you can probably figure out what works best for you.

Best, Brian______________________________________________________
