Dennis,

Do the interiors of all XKE’s ride unbearably hot or do I have a problem.

You may have a problem. Check the tranny access plugs (they are rubber
and you may have the original ones fitted - by now in deteriorated
condition - or worse, none at all). Also check that your heater is not
on (not just the lever but the connection at the heater valve as well).

Dennis, my car has always been hot to ride in, particularly around the feet.
I think that slowly but surely, the bulkhead heats up from the airflow
around the exhaust manifolds and so heats up the interior of the car. About
a year ago there was some considerable discussion about this and I believe
that one “cure” (if there is such a thing) was some the installation of some
insulating material insode the car, on the bulkhead and floor area. Some
other listers might remember what that was all about.

I believe there are some tips about this in the A/C writeups. Check
them.
