[E-Type] V12 XKE POOR RUNNING

Listers,

We have a v12 “E” in the shop and we can not get fuel into the left front
carb. We have had the carb off several times and can not find a fuel vent.

There is a bowl vent on the Strombergs. As you look at the intake
flange, it’s the quarter-inch diameter hole at about 11 o’clock.
It allows the bowl to communicate with the air filter. It may be
covered by a gasket in your case.–

Also check the non-return valve in the fuel line near the left
bank. Take apart, clean, and maybe stretch out the spring a
little.–

if the frnt carb doens’t get any fuel at idle or in the shop, i doubt the
valve is causing it but at speed, under load, it can really cause the left
bank to be out of fuel as it dumps back too much fuel to the tank. the car
may run fine for while but as things heat up you start loosing the left
bank.
