[E-Type] Vicarage Trumpet covers

just the trumpets on the carbs? Or will this hasten the demise of the
engine due to excessive dust pulled into the intake?

Mark…

If there was something to win, you won it… Absolutly dead right…I
am impressed!!
I run my car with K&Ns over the trumpets and the aubergine car ( in the
article) went to Japan with gauge mesh intake filters.

But it looked so good in the photos without the covers!!!

Tony,

I just installed K&N’s on my new SU’s, but had two minor problems that I
didn’t like. First, I had to make additional gaskets for the filter on the
front carb to get rid of an interference with the fuel line banjo bolt.
Second, the filter on the middle carb makes contact with the upper frame
rail. Are both of these situations normal when installing K&N’s, or is
there some type of trumpet ‘spacer’ that will both raise and extend the
filters a little?

I did not have that problem…

Yes, that has also ocurred with mine… no solution at the moment…

Not a big problem though…

If your center carb touches the frame rail you need new front motor mounts.
Will give you about 1/2" more clearance. I just had two installed…

Thanks Jan for the suggestion… my mounts were new when I installed the
engine this past year… I have 5,000 hard miles on the car. For my
situation the actual fix is to relieve the carb side and twist the
engine slightly… They just touch on torquing…
