Okay ‘‘Strap-on’’ was just to get your attention but can
anyone tell me the correct length of the strap which holds
the washer bottle to the bracket for my ‘68fhc? I ordered
one from one of the usuals but now that I’ve drilled out the
rivets on the bracket to install the new strap, I’ve
discovered it’s too short (13 1/2’’). Is the strap supposed
to stretch dramatically? I couldn’t make it long enough.
(no jokes please) It looks like the ends of the original
strap met and were sandwiched in the bracket and still had
enough room to hold the bottle. The new one won’t come close.
More poor quality replacement parts or am I missing something?–

I measured the strap on my Series II and it is 15’’ long. I checked
out a fabric store and found a thick replacement, similar to the
original and bought two feet for next to nothing. Rather than rivet
the new strap on I used small stainless machine screws with cap
nuts.
