[E-Type] Webbing inside covertible top

I am working slowly to replace my convertible top. The new
top is black cloth. There is webbing which connects the
bows. Currently, the webbing connects the front bow, the
middle bow, and rear bow. I think maybe the webbing show go
from the header all the way to the tack strip. It is bolted
to each of the bows, tacked into the tack strip and somehow
connected to the header. Could someone please give me some
advice on the webbing connections and perhaps a picture?

I am also having trouble stretching the top. Any advice?

Thanks–

Hi Gary,
I didn’t think that the pictures that I tried to send you yesterday
got through your spam blocker so I tried to post them on JL yesterday
evening and they have not showed up yet. Anyone else try to post
pictures yesterday that had a problem?

Hi Gary,
Here are the pictures of the bottom of an original top. This car,
881640,is amazing as with the exception of the resonators and header
tank it is totally original. The car was still in the hands of the
original owner and had only 20K miles at the time I shot these and
other pictures late last summer. I had planned on going back, Saginaw
Mi. area, and taking more detailed pictures but the car was sold to a
collector of original cars in Wisconsin.
Before Paul S, morning Paul, I gets on my case, I should mention that
I did list the car on XKE data,

Hi Jim,
Yes it is and I was not aware that there was a debate on whether or
not there was a shot bag as it was used until at least the early 69
cars in the form of a small more or less square small bag glued to the
vinyl top then in use.

Bob, Glad you posted the pics of the top, they are helpful to me also. It appears that the webbing in front of the front bow may be different than the rest of the webbing, or it may be due to more wear or ?? Can you elaborate?

Hi Larry, Sorry for the tardy reply but I’ve been tied up for the last
several days. The top webbing on 881640 does not connect to the header
as the first bow is stationary and what you see in the photo is a
seam. I wish that I had taken many more pictures but it’s too late now
as the car no longer lives in Michigan.

Any advice?

Thanks
