[E-Type] Windows in a 71 E-Type (UNCLASSIFIED)

UNCLASSIFIED

Do you have a Coupe, 2+2 or OTS? The passenger windows of the 2+2 will always be ~3/4" to 1" proud of the top edge of the door casing. The door of a coupe or a 2+2 is the same - the glass of the 2+2 has to reach a taller roof line. Therefore when the window of a 2+2 is rolled down into the door casing of a door designed for (and unchanged from) a coupe, the glass by definition will not fit inside the casing. The only difference between a door of a 2+2 and the door of a Coupe is the size of the chrome “hoop” that encases the window once fully rolled up.

As to the two windows in your E-Type standing proud to a different degree – my guess would be that a cleaning of the winding mechanism of one or both doors is called for.

I know nothing about the FHC or 2+2 windows but couldn’t help but
notice a few years back at a meet (50th anniversary) a 2+2 adjacent to
me had installed what appeared to be 1/2" clear tubing (Home Depot
stuff) split along its length so it slipped over the protruding window
edge. It certainly would have made it more comfortable for hanging
your elbow out.
