[E-Type] WIX fuel filter #33034

Be aware that use of the rubber seal/gasket that comes in
the box with the WIX filter will result in unfiltered fuel
leaking into the carburetors. The seal is not thick enough
and the outer radius of the filter will not make contact
when pressed fully home on the center pipe. The seal is
also not wide enough to adequately cover the flange. The
seal that comes with the ‘‘wrong way’’ filter from the usuals works OK. The seal in a couple of old filter assemblies on my spares shelf were even better…wide at the flange and thick.

I only noticed it because I wanted to check the integrity
of the seal between the filter and the housing/rubber
gasket without use of a spring (earlier thread). While the
deformation of the cardboard top of the filter around the
pipe does exert upward pressure, and the flow from the pump
is a very small assist, I’m going to add a spring for
insurance.–
