Electric fan conversion - quick question about removing bearing housing

Quick question for anyone who replaced their mechanical fan (1989 V12 5.3):
Assuming you permanently removed the bearing housing and the four studs that hold it in place (or 2 studs and 2 bolts in my case) how did you cover the four threaded holes after removing the studs?
Can I use a slightly shorter bolt than the depth of the hole? If so, what type of metal material is suitable?
And will the thread type be obvious or is it something obscure?

Thanks!

Hi. I did not do that conversion (went with more aggressive Pontiac Clutch and Jegs racing metal fan) But I recall info you need is in Mr. Kirby’s book. Think you buy shorter bolts, or add washers. Good luck. EJP

Replace the studs with bolts of suitable length same as all the other timing cover fasteners.

Thanks,

In case anyone needs this info in the future:
Thread size is 5/16-18.

Length for the two right side bolts is 1".
Length for longer two on the left is 3 1/2". They are not exactly the same depth though.
(4" was too long without extra washers or spacers).

Looked like the original bolts were chrome plated. (I assumed grade 5 is only necessary when securing on the bearing housing).
Found some non grade 5 chrome plated bolts at boltdepot.

Waiting on the new dual electric fan to arrive - using a Derale 66836. Hopefully everything fits well and the wiring is not too difficult.
