Ordered a new oil dipstick for rebuilt engine and it does not fit. It does not fit in the hole and touches the baffle in the oil sump! Part ordered has number C2348 and should be correct for all XK120. I have a later engine, number F3924-8S. Called the supplier and they said that it the only one they have. Any ideas why?
There were quite a few different dipsticks for the various XKs and they all had different part numbers .

It sounds as though the dipstick is not entering the hole in the baffle. Try putting a slight bend in it.
