English license plate

Does anyone have access to a data base that can give details about a British plate NXB 834? It is not on our XK 120 but another member of the family.

According to this one, XB is London. N was just a sequential starting from A.

This one seems to agree, XB is London to 1963.

Thank you. Nice to know where it started out.

Clive, your reply prompted me to check for an XK140 fhc that I’ve been curious about since I “found” it buried in bushes on an old WW2 bomb site in Plymouth, when I was about 16. It’s listed on the site you linked as not taxed since 1993, although a V5C was issued in 2005.
The registration is 539 APH, I’d be very happy to know my schoolboy dream survives.

According to UK registrations guru Noel Woodhall, NXB was issued from April 1953 and superseded (presumably when 1-999 numbers had been exhausted) by OXB in June 1954. Safe to presume NXB 834 would have been issued spring 1954.

Chris, your findings are consistent with the car being a 1953 Bentley. We do not know when it was imported to the US, but now we know it started from London. Thanks.
