One of my favourite pictures taken in 2015 just before starting restoration of my roadster

Tony, it does not look like that roadster needs restoration. Looks great from here!

I thought they were air brakes. Too small to be reverse thrusters…

Ah, I hadn’t thought of that. I thought maybe it was a Lucas smoke ejection system.

That car came withe several optional features. The fuel pressure gauge was 0 to 100 psi full scale. And it had a theft alarm system that was armed with a key switch in the fuel fill cavity. If armed and a door was opened the fuel cutoff relay was energized and a real mechanical police car/fire truck siren was energized. It was LOUD!! The siren was operated via a self sealing relay, and the only way to shut it off was by pulling the relay solenoid wire or disconnecting the battery.

Rod

Uh - Tony - have to agree with other listers who believe that car - by all appearances - does not seem to need restoration? It looks sparkling as is!

I have owned the car for 20 years and there were signs of tinworm starting to appear in one or two places but most noticeably between the doors and rear arches where water finds its way down from the roof and sits in the box section. Stripping the car exposed a previous repair that was bubbling away under the paint. As I didn’t know what else might be going on elsewhere I took the opportunity to do the whole car. It has been 15 months since starting and is now at the trimmers. It should be complete in next three weeks.

This picture was taken of my 70 2+2 in our hangar at Stellenbosch airfield near Cape Town. I think the airplane in the back ground is an Extra but cant remember who modified the picture.

I think it is quite unique.

Oh well, I know the SWB cars are a bit hard to enter, but she is apparently using the wrong technique, maybe I should help a bit and give her a push!

Why I detest bondo. So easily abused and just not the right way to go about a restoration. Looks like you had a quarter inch of the stuff lathered on there, Tony.

I think she’s lost her keys. I’d offer to crawl under the car and take a good look.

I forgot to post a very special Etype picture… this is hung in my shop; my son is an industrial designer and he drew this on my Fathers Day gift wrapping last year. Way too good to throw away so it went on my shop wall!
