Etype using r12a refrigerant?

Has anyone been using r12a refrigerant in their etype? What is your experience?

I believe that is close to what the systems originally were designed for: they can be converted to R134/R152.

My 1986 Porsche 928 uses R12. There is no doubt that the system is optomized for that refrigerent. I can buy the small (12 oz?) cans from 928srus.com for around $30.

R12? It has been forbidden to sell or produce R12 for ages so I guess it’s not really R12? (I think it was decided during the Kyoto protocol but it may be another one)

Hi Julien, you are correct, it is a hydrocarbon based product that some folks in the Citroën SM world have used but it is highly flammable and needs to be installed with caution and good ventilation. You’re not supposed to mix refrigerants so it is recommended that one have the system evacuated prior to use, additionally not supposed to be used with butyl rubber hoses (not sure how one finds that out).
