I sort of resent the silence of the xj12 and wonder about getting a bit more exhaust sound - perhaps by deleting the intermediate silencers

I’ve done that. No booming, but very little increase in sound.
Lots of archived info about other guys’ experiments with exhaust systems and tones. I’ve tried several variations. It’s tricky, as the Jag v12 can take on a rather odd sound. The combination that finally worked for me was four glasspacks in the locations of the original four mufflers and an X-pipe. The pic below show the forward part of the system.
No boom, no drone, slight growl
