Floor Plans of Coupe v. Convertible

I am in the process of buying (aftermarket) new, custom-cut floor mats for the front of Superblack, my '92 coupe, and noticed something odd from the vendors/makers of such mats. They seem to be showing a slightly different configuration for the front passenger side mat depending on whether the car is a coupe or a convertible. The convertible has a perfectly straight left/inboard edge, similar to the driver’s side mats, whereas the same mat for a coupe – the left/inboard edge detours and takes a slight slant to the right (i.e. towards outboard side of the floorboard) and then near the end of the mat the edge swings back out via a slight curve to the left (i.e. towards inboard side). Wondering why there would be a difference in that area of the floorboard between the two models?

STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT perhaps?
