on MKVII, the main dash wood mounts directly on the metal assembly.
I have MKVII and some parts, they are stored elsewhere, so give me some time

I’ve had a look in the parts book and unfortunately it’s of very little help with no illustrations.
I had a quick look at some parts and tried to cast my mind back to when I dismantled one.
From memory, the wood dash parts are bolted to metal brackets.
from faint memory, the brackets have built in “nutserts”
do you have the brackets that bolt to the firewall ?
imo, it might be best if you start a new topic, with pictures
next time I am over at the property where I have 2 MKVII, I will try and snap a few pics up under the dash
