Fuel system issue

Two problems,

  1. Fuel pump pumps up to pressure but then with the ignition on ,the fuel pump clicks about every 1-2 minutes. Can’t see any leaks from the tank to carbs so would this indicate fuel is leaking at one or both carburetor needle valves?
  2. When driving the car and decelerating , revs do not drop off quickly but drop slowly from about 2500 to 1000 rpm as the car comes to a stop .

Would the two problems above be related ?

Thanks in advance for any information!
Don

  1. A whole minute between clicks!! That is fantastic!! It means the fuel line is holding pressure against the pump and the one way valve is in great shape, not leaking back at all…
2} If you are in 4th gear, that is about normal… If you are in first gear it means your engines compression is terrible.

Agree with Lloyd, no problem with the pump. Regarding the slow return to idle, does it do this when sitting still in neutral? If so the throttle linkage could be binding. Easy to verify, just blip the throttle at the carburettors, if slow to return then do it again helping the linkage to get back to idle.
