John,
Could you recommend the CORRECT plugs for my 83’ S III. It’s been
off the road for a couple of years now after I blew the head gasket
and I cant seem to find the originals. Are Champion any different
to the others and does it make that much difference ???
Thanks…Steve Blair

G’day Blairy,
Jaguar Series III Workshop Manual specifies Champion N12Y. Our '85
runs and idles as sweet as a nut on N12YC, bought in Kmart. The “C” just
means copper core. I think that you can’t go wrong if you follow the maker’s
recommendations.

I would definitely stay with champions, I just changed back
after having bosh platinum plugs in mine, had nothing but
stumbling problems with them in hot weather.
And stay with the N12Y

just while we’re on the subject, I’ve just replaced my Bosche 4s with
Champions N12Ys (yet to test them properly) but in my genuine SII Jaguar
workshop manual, it specifies N11Ys…?

Might be due to expected running conditions, Mark. The number indicates
the “temperature” of the plugs…
