Thanks for pointing this out. I did note that the larger washer for the pivot included in the kit was just a spring washer and not a thakery washer. It also has a narrower band and larger ID so it was fouling the nut when tightening. Pics below show kit washer on the left. I put the original washer back. I may try the original washer securing the gearshift lever with the kit fiber washers, but it is a struggle to compress the spring for clearance. I was able to use a small C-clamp, but it was very difficult. I did not check the compressed height of each.
