Solved the problem of intermittent wipers 
I took it out and it fell apart!
Nuisance eh! Had same before. Have one in my Mk2 that looks original. Always carry spares.
Some folks down here in the country use .22 caliber bullets as a spare fuse. Got one fella in the soft bits when it exploded. Sometimes the gene pool needs thinning out. I just found a fuse wrapped in aluminum foil. Might have been this way for years!!
