Good or bad ? oil cooler bypass aj16

hello
is it a dangerous or a bad idea to bypass the engine oil cooler by installing the bypass kit on oil cooler housing
i think jaguar did that for european market
the car is a 1995 xj6 with aj16 engine

I suppose it would depend on the ambient temperatures that you experience in your driving.
I removed mine from my AJ6, without any adverse effects, a positive is that you remove about a litre of dirty oil that is never drained, ergo the new oil stays cleaner.

i live in moderate climate , not too hot not too cold

IMHO it shouldn’t be a problem then, I’m in Auckland NZ, one or two frosts a year (-1-3Deg C) and up to 28-9 Deg C if we are lucky

My 95 VDP, USA car never came with an oil cooler. That 6cyl holds around 9 quarts.
Check out Jaguar Forums.com I just saw a thread on the x300 forum about a oil cooler by pass for the AJ16

I will check it out ,

Forgot to mention I am a cheap skate, I simpleremoved the oil cooler fittings from between the filter head and the block, made a gasket from gasket material I had in the garage and used shorter bolts, Just make sure the bolts are tightened up securely and recheck after a few miles.
