Hard shifting into 1st in 2006 2.0 diesel

Hi folks,

Newbie here. I’ve got a much loved 2006 x-type diesel with 125k on the clock that’s developed a really hard shift over the past year or so.

It feels a little crunchy and hard getting the gears to engage from neutral to first, and occasionally the other way. No issues of slippage, or problems in any of the other gears. The clutch pedal itself seems fine, it’s getting the shift lever to complete its throw that is becoming harder.

Any advice you have most welcomed.

You may be dealing with a worn synchroniser. A shop dealing with manual transmissions may be able to tell you more
