Head color of mk2 3.4

Hi, I have a mk2 3.4 of 1964… what colour shoud
be painted the head? There is a red color residue but I’m not sure that it is the original one…

The “B type” 3.4-litre heads were painted duck egg green.

Thanks! Is possible to have the color code?

Sorry, I do not know.
I see some, like SCparts sell it in cans, but that is not the right color.
They say it should be duck egg blue, but I have never seen that color on a 3.4 MK2 head.

I bought my paint from Bill Bassett

That looks pretty good. Mine is original and I will post a picture of it tonight.

Does this work???

Looks good to me :+1:

Where did you buy it, Brian? That would be very handy to know.

Yes. It’s close enough. Do you think you have enough?

Forgot to post this - original with patina grade grease and dirt.

My car is a 1967 Mark 2 3.4, came from the factory with head not painted, just another cost cutting measure the factory used as well as fitting ambla interiors with no occasional tables. One less item for me not to have to deal with.

I also got mine from Bill Basset in the US after failing to get the right colour from SC Parts etc  Dave

That’s interesting; does it have a B Type head, and is it stamped with the engine number? My XJ has an SPH, but it has remnants of silver paint, not bare alloy. Looks to be original, in the valley around the plugs.

It is stamped with the engine #

Give Jestyn a ring at Thruxton Jaguar - he got it from the suppliers. (I’m out of the country for 3 weeks)
