Headlining completed

Just a few pictures of my new headlining and cant rails

Headlining1Head2Head3Head4Headlining1![Head2|500x375]

I’m just about to tackle this on my '68 S-Type.

Tell me how you did it.
More importantly, what mistakes did you make?

That looks great! I have to do my cantrails this winter. Paul

I did a write up on how I did it in this thread -

It looks absolutely fabulous…

Thanks for the compliment.

Dave

Looks fantastic. Is that Nimbus Grey?

Ron

Ron,

I didn’t use the original type headlining material but woolcloth from BAS International and they simply list the colour as grey.

I just redid the headlining in my S-Type, also using woolcloth, from (I think) Woolies Trim. I purchased the cloth more than a decade ago, and only now got around to it.

When I opened the double plastic bag it was stored in I found the wool was creased a bit where it was folded, and also that the two surfaces which were in contact with the bag were a bit shinier than the rest of the cloth.

The creases came out with ironing (mid wool setting, with steam, and a cotton cloth between iron and wool), and the shiny patches needed just the slightest brush with a shoe shine brush (I bought a new one, and washed it before use). Once all the trim bits were covered I waited 48 hours for the contact cement to cure/lose any solvent, then I sprayed everything with a Scotchgard spray. I waited another 48 hours after the Scotchgard before installing.

So are you pleased with the results?
