Heater water valve operation

Hello can someone explain how the denso electric water valve for the heater core works? This is on a 1996 XJ-12. Is it a variable valve? Thanks

Another point Jerald is that the heater valve is open when power is off and powered closed.

With the engine hot and running feel the hoses on both sides of the valve to check it’s operation.

Hello, sorry for the late post.I resolved my issue by using CRC and letting it sit overnight in the heater core then backlashed and voila heat once again.thanks to all
