Help identifying my dad's old saloon (and maybe finding one just like it)

Hello all - thanks for all your wonderfully interesting and informative replies.
So as far as I can sum up, it’s an MK1, probably a 2.4.
And as far as I can gather, unless we manage to find one that’s in really good nick, which is not realistic at with a 10,000€ budget, it will take a lot of work to keep a saloon on the road.

Once sorted, they’re as reliable as, and more than most, cars of that era.

Getting it to that point, however…

Hi,

Yes, €10.000 will only get you a car that will quickly blow your budget.

Here’s a relatively nice 3.4L manual RHD MK1 in Suede Green / Suede Green for €22.500,- euros. I am sure that this time of the year, €20.000 in cash and you can drive it home (although from Finland that’s a long drive).

That’s so lovely, well done for trying to make his day so special. Your dad was a very handsome man when he was younger, weren’t we all? The MK1 was lovely car and I’m sure that you can find one for him. Perhaps you could find one for him to go for a drive in for a a few days or weeks?
