High level brake light not working

My high level brake light on my 2002 2.1 manual X Type seems to work only when it wants to. I had a similar problem on my XJ40 some years ago and it was a relay. Any ideas where to start looking?

First check the brake switch is operating correctly, power in on NR Brown and Red line, GW green and White out to the central junction fuse box. The circuit comes out of there on the OG Orange and Green wire, pin 4 on plug CA-76 and then to the light.
I suspect as it’s intermittent, the switch may not be operating correctly.
Check the ground cable of the light also.
