How many XJ-S made it to the USA?

Just for fun thread on a snowy Saturday evening: I know there are many great resources out there talking about production numbers for the whole run of the XJ-S. I particularly enjoyed this write-up: https://www.aronline.co.uk/cars/jaguar/xj-s/jaguar-xj-s/

My questions is: of the 115,413 XJ-S ever produced, how many were for and made it to the US market? Just curious!

And then, how many of those that did come here are still surviving run/drive cars today??

Anyone have any other pages or sources that might be relevant or of interest??

Sunny and 52F in Seattle today!

HA!! Sure wish I could get some of that weather over here in VA!! Send warm thoughts west-coasters!!

I have wondered the same thing…just out of curiosity. …other classic cars have data available. …maybe there is a source through license registration

Far from complete database, but everybody who posts here knows that, as of today, the majority of the XJS cars that were imported to the US have been scarped…

PS The USA must have the largest Jaguar market. In 1995 for example, there were 181 6.0L convertibles. 2 were for the UK market and 179 ROW. I am guessing that at least 2/3 of them ended up here. Mine is one of them. But, there has not been a post from another 1995 6.0L convertible owner in months

I can add that 3415 LHD XJ-SC’s were built. 2915 of them were V12’s. One of which is hibernating in my garage.

I personally have had up to 10 XJ-S and XJS. 5 of these are parts cars. two have been dismantled and the unusable pieces disposed of One I sold. The last three are going to be disassembled and the waste pieces scrapped. The last four are either currently used, being treated to a resto-mod or will be brought back into service. I am aware of at least 10 that are sitting and will most likely be discarded. I just thought of another that was dismantled for a street rod. The future for the 10 is primarily because the holders think they are worth much more then their debilitated state reveals. My guess is that half of all USA cars survive at this time.

I entered both of my 94 coupes into xjsdata.
After the cars went on to their ultimate destination I never could log on.
I just tried again but I can’t get in.
My v12 coupe was 189811 I think.
I still have the door tag for my 4.0 coupe parts car but the car went to the scrap yard.

Told ya it was snowy here!!

Hi Bleasie,
How are you? We have spoken before, and I submitted my car to your registry a few years ago. 141340 The numbers came from a xjs-soft-tops figure I thought you compiled.
2915 V12 LHD, and 479 3.6 LHD cars. Also 21 3.6 auto LHD cars. Total 3415.
I visit Lawrences soft-top site sometimes, but there is usually not much going on.
Cheers, Dave. Oh, Winter in USA. Hibernating 'til Spring.
