I want to mute all but the pub category

Even though I muted all the categories, they still show up in my feed. What am I doing wrong.

Depends on what you mean. Do they still show up in the list of categories?

Or is it just that topics/threads from them are showing up under Latest?

If the latter, any topics you’ve started or replied to will still show up. If you want them gone, simply click each topic, then change the notification setting (the “bell”) for each to Normal or Mute.
