Interior door sheet metal screws?

Anyone know of their function? Both doors have them in identical locations. Marked in blue beyond either end of the stainless insert.
Thanks

That steel insert is throwing me off a bit, but the screws might hold on the ends of the chrome center insert trim at the bottom of the big center latch indent. The ends of the skinny chrome strips tap over the heads to hide. On '68 and newer door panels.

Phil, to my recall, over 3 decades, I didn’t loosen those when I tore into the doors. They look undisturbed and as with all the other screws I bagged them. It may be the previous owner did it and didn’t replace whatever they were for. I don’t recall doing anything to those when I pulled the panels.
BTW the stainless unit is an attempt to replace the crap black molded plastic.
