Now into reassembly and, not having been the one to disassemble the car, I’m running into some headscratchers. This is the water pump. The takeoff for the heater return (red arrow) looks nothing like what’s depicted in Viart:
who shows a banjo bolt with two banjo takeoffs, one for the heater return and the other for the thermostat bypass (though the part number he cites C1506 takes only one banjo, adding to my confusion).
I’ve scoured XKDATA for pictures of late XK120 engines but this area is invariably obscured. I was able to find only one picture of a later XK120 engine out of the car and it, too, features a straight nipple rather than a banjo bolt (675739):
but this water pump lacks the grease nipple that mine features (green arrow). More confusion. Replacement water pump?
This is a practical rather than a concours question, as in do I need to source a banjo bolt and one (or two) banjos to hook up the plumbing?
