[jag-news-discussion] Jag sales in India

Press release May 1, 2009:

Jaguar to target Indian motorists

Tata paid $2.3bn for Jaguar Land Rover in March 2008
Jaguar Land Rover says its brand of cars will formally go on sale
in India for the first time later this year.

The British company is owned by Indian group Tata Motors which
plans to import the cars and then sell them using its own
dealership network.

Vehicles include the Jaguar XF and XK as well as Land Rover’s
Freelander, Discovery and Range Rover.

Jaguar Land Rover says it is a strategic move to capitalise on
India’s ‘‘rapidly expanding market.’’

‘‘We are delighted to be formally entering the Indian market, an
economy which is still growing appreciably,’’ said David Smith,
Jaguar Land Rover chief executive.
