The list has been light lately…so heres a post about maint.
Since I got my car, a 1990 with 74,000 miles on it I’ve done,
--------Normal wear items-----------
4 new tires (p4000)
4 new shocks(billsteen)
3 new belts(ac alt air pump)
12 new coolant hoses(rad,heater,odd ones)
2 new front rotors
2 sets of new front brake pads
6 new spark plugs
2 sets of front wheel bearings
4 wheel alignment
--------Normal Jaguar maintenance items---------
cleaned out the throttle plate and adj. idle
lubed door handles and locks
clean cabin temp sensor and fan
adj throttle cable(lots of slack)
---------------failures------------------
under hood light switch(cut rubber and lube)
climate control(contact cleaner in switch)
abs alarm(bad connector on pressure switch)
brake pull (clean system)
Differential leak and noise(replace right side output bearing and seal)
bulb fail alarm(bad contact in side marker socket)
braze hinge on fuel door
leak in hose from tank to power steering pump(replaced hose $12.00)
-------------regular maintenance---------------
clean up mess under battery(clean up acid, repaint metal,replace hardware)
lube driveshafts
replace trans fluid and filter
replace differential lube
replace air filter
replace fuel filter
replace brake fluid
replace antifreeze
replace rear wheel bearings(not needed)
replaced vacuum lines
replaced fuel lines to fuel rail(no more put put noise)
-------------odd maintenance items-----------------
clean out cam chain tensioner
fix small oil leak at alternator mounting bolts
service climate control blowers(new brushes,clean and lube motors)
clean out windshield washer tank and pump
replaced speakers(6)
clean engine, coat with silicone spray and clean all electrical
connections
replace non return valve in fuel pump

valve adj
replace other bearings in differential?
replace power steering hose(pump to rack)(its ok so far)
inspect\service alternator(repack bearings,check brushes)
replace fan clutch? not sure about this one yet…
Have I missed anything?
The ONLY complaint I have with the car is a slight whine in the
differential bearings…

Geez, you have great maintenance on your car. Usually on the weekends when
I have nothing to do, I try to find something on my car to work on, but I
always end up cleaning and waxing. Now, that you provided a list of
maintenance I realize that there’s alot of stuff I need to work on.
This weekend I like to clean out the throttle plate and try to adjust the
idle. I have no experience whatsoever on this work. Would you please
describe the process how you did it.
