When the XK120 was first released, I believe it came from the Factory with a Throttle Stop fitted to the Accelerator Pedal assembly. This was to keep the new owner from over revving the Engine until the initial running-in period, 500 miles and the car came into the Jaguar Dealer for an oil change and required maintenance. This Throttle Stop was then removed by the Dealer, and the happy owner left the shop free to use full throttle!
