I finally purchase a 1996 XJS and drove it from St. Louis, Mo to Trenton, NJ. Nice ride, minor issues. It came with two (2) door keys and one (1) trunk key and one (1) remote fob. My question is: can I unlock the trunk and pull the key out. Seems that the key will not come out in the unlock position. I will be asking more question later about different concerns. as I lean the car.

You might just need to try a few positions a few degrees apart as you try to withdraw the key, my XJ40 boot key didn’t come out in the vertical plane, it was slightly off.
Being a 96 you turn the key to unlock. Then back to vertical ( 1/4 turn) to withdraw. In that position the boot locks with the car doors. If you want to keep it locked turn it the opposite way and withdraw the same way.

Agreed. Mine is the same method. I sprayed mine with a nice compliment of graphite as well. It’s just a bit unusual, especially with what we Yanks are used to. You’ll get the hang of it!
