Key fob battery low

Hi folks, got a message on instrument panel, key fob battery low. Installed new battery and fob works fine. I understand that the message should disappear after a few stop/start cycles. Not happening. I have twice disconnected the + battery terminal on both batteries, but the message persists. Any ideas on how to get rid of the message? 2014 XF 3L supercharged.
Thanks
Mike

usually disconnect the neg- cable?

Disconnect both terminals and hold them together for a ‘hard reset’

suspected as much, thanks.

Hi guys, tried that with both batteries. Message still there.

Just to eliminate some possibilities, do you have a second key fob that you can try? If it goes away with the spare key fob, at least you know for sure its isolated to your first key fob and not something on the car.

I have the same problem with my XK. I’m told that cleaning the battery contacts in the fob can correct it, but I’ve not tried it yet.

Unfortunately, only one key fob.

worth a try

Not sure if this is any help, but key fobs can do crazy stuff. My girlfriend has a Jeep Wrangler and the battery recently got replaced on her fob. Before the replacement, her headlights would just turn on and off randomly when the car was parked. After replacement, she’s been having issues with the security system not disarming properly. I believe something’s gone bad in the circuitry of her key fob causing all the issues. Maybe you have a similar issue.
