Le Mans fuel cap venting

Hi all,

I’m replacing the fuel cap on my 120 OTS with a Le Mans style cap (3 1/2” Aston). For those that have already done this, what have you done with the vent pipe that comes up from the tank? The new Aston cap is vented so it shouldn’t really be needed so can I just seal it off?

Make a small penetration in the inner wing (back of the fuel filler hose) then run the vent line thru the penetration, I think I used

copper brake pipe.

That’s basically the way it was done on all the pushrod saloons that had fully sealing caps, a tube running up and out the side above the tire.
