Links to old forum threads do not seem work

When one goes to a link referring to an old thread from the old forum it just goes to the new forum index page…

For example:

My browser is Firefox.

Best regards,
Aristides

Don’t link to threads on the old forum, they’re all here on the new forum.

You only need to link to the old forum for ebooks, photos and such. (and only that while we figure out how to migrate them to the new site).

EDIT: Perhaps I’ve misunderstood the question. where did you generate that link from? looking on the old site redirects you to the new site.

Andrew,
I am talking about existing threads from the old site that already have links on other existing threads on the old site.
i.e the link I provided was from a post made in 2009 referring to an other thread where the original poster explained in detail a modification…

quote:
(Sometime later I had the other hose done as well, just in case.
Here’s a link to the post I made,
http://forums.jag-lovers.org/avsn.php?1060491i96)
/quote

Maybe there is an other way to retrieve the thread?
Best,
Aristides

And yes, all that done off cource from the new forum platform.
I found that thread through the search topics.

Here is a search of your posts up to Jan 1 2010, including the word hose:
https://forums.jag-lovers.com/search?expanded=true&q=%40Aristides1%20hose%20before%3A2010-01-01
is either of those the post you’re talking about?

Please show me the search you were using, either as the text in the search bar, or as a complete URL as I posted above.

So far I haven’t seen any problems with links to historical threads.

This are the search results:

and this is the thread, (9th subject down the search list):
[v12-engine] Full flow oil cooler pipes
([v12-engine] Full flow oil cooler pipes)

Hmn. I’m stumped, at least temporarily.

I’ll have to look at it and see what’s going on. (The link may have been malformed even on the old forum).

For the moment, try searching Jeff’s posts previous to May 09 with “hose”

(imagine doing that with the old search!)

Yes, will try your suggestion, thank you.
On the other hand I do not think it’s a malformed link as it happened to me on other thread links as well.
BTW, the new platform is very slick, and the upgrade much needed !
… except the big Jaguar picture on the top of the home page, but that is a matter of personal taste
Best,
Aristides

So far I’ve only seen problems with offsite links (often the original site is gone, or has moved the page/photo).

If anyone finds an internal link which doesn’t work, then please report it.

@Aristides

I think this is the post Jeff meant:

@Jeff_Watson isn’t active, but @Jeff_Watson is. Jeff, can you shed any light on this?

Yes Andrew, thank you.
If I find any other problematic internal links I will let you know.

Best
Aristides

Andrew, I was searching the archive and found this thread, - the links are jag-Lovers but don’t seem to work on my machine …
EDIT: Just to be clear, the link to this thread works fine but the links posted to other threads within this thread don’t.

after selecting a link within that thread that includes the asvn.php in the url, the new forum can’t resolve it and loads the welcome page instead, however, now the address bar of the welcome page displays the URL of the selected link - sans the “asvn.php”

Hi Andrew,

Here are two links from the old site photo albums that even though the album page is fine when you click to the photo it will load the page and description but not the photo…

(only the first three will load but not the rest)

@Gunnar? Some of the albums (about 10 in total) in the dump had malformed filenames on the images and in the .idx files, but this isn’t one of them.
