What’s the general consensus on lowering the front of the car. Mine now sits about 1 1/4 too high. I know the two ways are removing the spring packing rings or adding shims under the spring pads.
It’s a 71 XJ6.

Or taking your springs to a spring shop. There is a place here in Zurich which makes and modifies springs, I can drop off a set of springs with the request “Reduce these by Xmm” or even “Stretch these by Xmm”, and they are ready for pick-up in 24-48 hours. Cost here is something in the order of 120$ for a pair of springs.
I’ve got King Springs in mine. Height wasn’t even close to the description on the box.
I’d take mine to a spring shop as Andrew suggests. Somewhere on the forum there’s a post with the desired car height change and the amount you need to change the springs by.
